Winona Ryder is reuniting with Tim Burton and her Beetlejuice Beetlejuice co-star Jenna Ortega for Wednesday Season 3. The Edward Scissorhands actress is set to play a character named Tabitha.
In addition to Ryder, the new season will see director Tim Burton reunite with several past collaborators. Eva Green (Dark Shadows), Chris Sarandon (The Nightmare Before Christmas), and Noah Taylor (Charlie and the Chocolate Factory) all join the cast.
“I am so happy that Winona has joined us, she fits right into this world,” Burton said in a statement. “And she’s a dear friend. I always feel lucky to work with her.” Speaking on the wider cast announcement, Burton stated: “I’m so excited to be back for Season 3, and it’s great to be reunited with all of the original cast. The addition of some dear friends and past collaborators of mine—Winona, Eva, Chris, Noah… makes this season extra special. I feel very lucky.”
While Enid’s (Emma Myers) werewolf love interest, Bruno (Noah B. Taylor), is departing the series, Joanna Lumley has been promoted to a series regular, teasing a larger role for Grandmama Frump after it was revealed in the Season 2 finale that she was hiding Wednesday’s Aunt Ophelia (Eva Green) in her basement.
“Eva Green has always brought an exhilarating, singular presence to the screen—elegant, haunting, and beautifully unpredictable,” showrunners Alfred Gough and Miles Millar said of her casting. “Those qualities make her the perfect choice for Aunt Ophelia.”
Filming is now underway in Ireland. If it follows previous production timelines, Season 3 is expected to release in summer 2027.
