Last night saw the world premiere of The Criterion Collection’s 4K restoration of Wild at Heart, screening in the middle of Bologna’s Piazza Maggiore.

Isabella Rossellini, who plays Perdita Durango, was on hand to introduce David Lynch’s Palme d’Or-winning cult classic at Bologna’s Il Cinema Ritrovato film festival. The film marked her second collaboration with the late director following her pivotal role as Dorothy Vallens in 1986’s Blue Velvet.

Wild at Heart has been restored by Universal and The Criterion Collection from the original 35mm print under the supervision of cinematographer Fred Elms, who also attended the festival. A home video release is expected soon

The Criterion Collection currently has 4K editions of Blue Velvet, Twin Peaks: Fire Walk with Me, Lost Highway, and Mulholland Drive, with a restoration of The Elephant Man releasing July 7th.
