FrightFest London, the annual horror film festival based in the UK’s capital, returns with another chilling line-up of genre cinema. This year’s selection includes a new zombie thriller from ‘Train to Busan’ director Yeon Sang-ho (Colony), Casper Kelly’s buzzy horror riff on Barney (Buddy) starring Cristin Milioti and Keegan-Michael Key, an 1800s-set found-footage supernatural horror filmed through a pinhole camera (Snapshot), and the final chapter in The Wicker Man trilogy.
Tubi FrightFest London runs from Thursday, August 27th to Monday, August 31st.
The Peril at Pincer Point

In this moody, black-and-white horror comedy, an inept sound recordist (Jack Redmayne) working on a crab-themed creature feature travels to a remote island to locate the film’s missing lead actress. Once there, he becomes entangled in an eerie local legend about a ghostly sea captain.

Billed as a blend of Clueless and Scream, this slasher follows a group of teens who escape to a disco-themed cabin for spring break after the tragic loss of a friend. But their dream vacation takes a terrible turn when they realise the killer may have followed them into the mountains.

In this trippy liminal horror thriller, a reclusive night guard (Scott Poythress) keeps watch over a private university. When he and his coworker (Johnny Sibilly) discover a hidden room and a mysterious mute figure who returns every night, their grip on reality unravels as they descend into a Lynchian blend of body horror and sci-fi conspiracy thriller.
Salmokji: Whispering Water

The highest-grossing Korean horror film of all time, this folk horror follows a road-view filming crew who return to the site where they recorded an unidentified figure and their footage was mysteriously distorted. Once back at the reservoir, they find something lurking in the deep water.

Asking the question What if Barney was evil?, Casper Kelly’s (Too Many Cooks) demented horror comedy follows a group of children who must escape a kids television show when their orange unicorn co-star turns violent. Cristin Milioti, Keegan-Michael Key, Topher Grace, Patton Oswalt, and Michael Shannon star.
The Pitchfork Retreat

One of the last films to star horror legend Tony Todd, this atmospheric horror follows a trio of genre writers who travel to a secluded island for a high-stakes horror retreat. Scream queens Danielle Harris (the Halloween franchise) and Dee Wallace (Cujo, The Howling) star, with Fuzz on the Lens Productions (the Terrifier franchise) producing.
Nervous

In this queer psychological horror, Sarah (Sarah Bolger) moves to the Korean countryside to save her crumbling marriage, where she uncovers a strange, unmarked vinyl record that plays nothing but dead silence. After listening to it, she loses the ability to hear men’s voices and finds herself drawn to an enigmatic local woman (Ko Asung).

An 1888-set found-footage horror filmed through a pinhole camera, Snapshot follows an all-women ghost-hunting team who believe a malevolent supernatural force is behind the Jack the Ripper killings.
Our Effed Up World

22-year-old trans horror auteur Alice Maio Mackay (T-Blockers, The Serpent’s Skin) returns with a sci-fi spectacle about a friend group navigating the arrival of a voracious alien entity. Jane Schoenbrun (Teenage Sex and Death at Camp Miasma) produces while Annapurna Sriram (Fucktoys) stars.

A struggling indie rock band thinks they’ve finally found their big break with an irresistibly catchy guitar riff. Unfortunately, it just so happens to be a cursed melody that opens a portal to a nightmarish dimension in this sapphic sci-fi horror comedy.

The Glorious Dead

After Mother of Flies won last year’s Cheval Noir Award, the festival’s top prize, family filmmaking collective The Adams Family returns with a practical effects-driven monster movie about a small-town sheriff (Toby Poser) and her deputy (Zelda Adams) facing the apocalypse. Co-director John Adams says, “It’s about waking up in America in 2026.”

In this French body horror film, a young intern (Mara Taquin) at the most competitive ER in the country begins seeing unusual symptoms in multiple patients her age—before her own body starts to undergo disturbing changes. Oscar-winning SFX artist Pierre-Olivier Persin (The Substance) is handling the prosthetic design.

In this meta reboot, Barbie Ferreira plays a content moderator investigating videos inspired by the 1978 cult classic of the same name, a faux documentary presenting a series of supposedly real deaths. Dacre Montgomery and Charli xcx also star.
