As a slasher summer winds down and spooky season approaches, the fall is bringing a thrilling line-up that includes a new horror blockbuster from Weapons director Zach Cregger (Resident Evil), an indie haunted house tale endorsed by Stephen King (Never After Dark), and an all-star new season of American Horror Story that sees fan-favourite stars Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, and Jessica Lange all return to the hit anthology series.
Meanwhile, we’re finally getting a sequel to everyone’s favourite spooky rom-com as Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman get back on their broomsticks for Practical Magic 2, Netflix’s hit Monster series delivers its first season centred on a woman with The Lizzie Borden Story, and Heated Rivalry breakout star Connor Storrie takes centre stage in a sci-fi noir thriller.
Fall 2: Deadpoint (September 2nd)
Lionsgate
In this sequel to the successful 2022 psychological thriller, two climbers (Harriet Slater and Arsema Thomas) travel to Thailand to conquer a treacherous mountain plank walk in honour of a character who died in the original film. But when a sudden rockslide leaves them trapped at a height of 3,000 feet, they must fight to stay alive.

In this bloody, timely B-movie, a tech startup’s revolutionary AI chatbot turns homicidal on the eve of its launch, ruthlessly killing team members. As it sets its sights on world domination, the survivors must band together to stop the sinister force before it’s too late. Piper Curda (Hoppers) and Noel Fisher (Shameless) star.
Onslaught (September 4th)

In this A24 action-horror from director Adam Wingard (You’re Next, Godzilla vs. Kong), an army sniper (Adria Arjona) must protect her family from a trio of super soldiers programmed to kill anyone in their path. Drew Starkey, Rebecca Hall, and Dan Stevens also star, while Wingard has confirmed the film exists in the same universe as his 2014 cult classic The Guest.
Dark Hollow (September 4th)

When a nightmarish monster emerges from the depths of an Appalachian coal mine, a young mother (June Shreiner) must hunt down the creature to protect her home and save her family.

In this incel-themed psychological thriller, a working-class man (Theo Rossi), left vulnerable after a traumatic home invasion, falls under the dangerous influence of a radio host (Ron Perlman) with radical ideals.
Hope (September 9th)
NEON
10 years after his acclaimed supernatural horror The Wailing, Na Hong-jin returns with an epic sci-fi thriller about a remote harbour village attacked by a terrifying beast. Hwang Jung-min and Squid Game’s Hoyeon play the locals, while Taylor Russell, Alicia Vikander, and Michael Fassbender star as invading aliens.
The Shards (Airing through September 9th)

American Horror Story creator Ryan Murphy teams with American Psycho author Bret Easton Ellis for this autofictional queer horror series adapted from Ellis’ bestselling 2023 novel. The FX show follows a group of elite students in 1981 Los Angeles as a serial killer known as The Trawler looms over the city.
Practical Magic 2 (September 11th)

Hitting theatres 29 years after the original, a beloved romantic dramedy with horror elements, the sequel finds witch sisters Sally (Sandra Bullock) and Gillian Owens (Nicole Kidman) travelling to the UK to break the curse that has haunted their family for centuries and protect Sally’s daughters (Joey King and Maisie Williams).
Black Zombie (September 11th)

Tracing the undead archetype from Haitian spiritual traditions to Hollywood horror, this documentary unearths the buried origins of the zombie while exploring its deeper cultural significance — ultimately reclaiming the figure as a symbol of survival for the Black community.
Don’t Move (September 11th)

In this spider creature feature, a church group’s annual retreat turns deadly when they cross paths with a giant prehistoric arachnid in the Ozark wilderness. With the monster hunting by sensing vibration, the group is left with one choice: Don’t move.

Monster: The Lizzie Borden Story (September 17th)

In this fourth instalment of Ryan Murphy and Ian Brennan’s Monster anthology, the Netflix series tackles one of America’s most famous unsolved mysteries with the story of Lizzie Borden (Ella Beatty), who was tried and acquitted of the 1892 axe murders of her father (Charlie Hunnam) and stepmother (Rebecca Hall). Sarah Paulson, Vicky Krieps, and Billie Lourd also star.
Resident Evil (September 18th)

Rebooting the film series based on the beloved survival horror video game series, Zach Cregger’s first effort since last year’s smash-hit Weapons follows a medical courier (Austin Abrams) whose botched late-night delivery to Raccoon City sends him into a harrowing fight for survival in a snowy wasteland.
April X (September 18th)

In this indie sci-fi noir thriller starring Connor Storrie (filmed before his breakout role in the global sensation Heated Rivalry), a young man struggles to survive in a dystopian future. When his twin sister (Lilly Krug) goes missing, he scours the criminal underworld to find her, gradually descending into madness.
Shaun the Sheep: The Beast of Mossy Bottom (September 18th)
Sky
From the creators of Wallace & Gromit, Chicken Run, and Flushed Away, this horror-themed third instalment of the stop-motion film franchise sees our bleating hero and his flock band together to save Halloween after the Farmer goes missing and a hairy monster is unleashed on the woods of Mossingham.
American Horror Story: 13 (September 24th)

In this all-star season of the cult FX anthology, fan-favourite characters from the previous 12 instalments assemble to defeat the show’s biggest threat yet. Series veterans Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Kathy Bates, Emma Roberts, and more return.
