Our exclusive first-look photos from “Heartbeat”, one of the several music- or audio-driven horror stories from the upcoming anthology V/H/S/Mixtape, tease a bloody thrill ride.
The segment follows a pair of YouTube urbex influencers who find themselves trapped in a decommissioned military facility used for sonic experimentations.
“Heartbeat” is directed by David Moreau, the French genre filmmaker behind the acclaimed 2024 zombie film MadS, which unfolds in real time in one continuous shot without any hidden cuts.
In addition to “Heartbeat”, V/H/S/Mixtape features a variety of segments centred on music and sound as the source of terror, with its directing line-up including Ernest Dickerson, Flying Lotus, Tobias Forge, RZA, and Renee Zhan.
Shudder previews, “V/H/S/MIXTAPE cranks the signature found-footage horror up to eleven with an electrifying new anthology where music and sound become the source of terror. United by a theme that explores the power of music, rhythm, and audio to haunt, possess, and destroy, the film blends cosmic horror, psychological suspense, outrageous splatter, and groundbreaking practical effects into one unforgettable mixtape of nightmares.”
The next instalment of the series, V/H/S: SCP, will release in theatres next year in collaboration with A24.
V/H/S/MIXTAPE hits Shudder this Friday, October 9th.
