5 Bunny Horror Movies to Watch This Easter

From Jordan Peele’s Us to Donnie Darko

Newmarket Films

In honour of the Easter Bunny, we’re celebrating our favourite rabbits in the horror genre, from a David Lynch sitcom to the upcoming Adam Scott folk horror thriller Hokum.

Rabbits (2002)

Absurda

As uncanny as you’d expect it to be, David Lynch’s eight-episode web series (though some call it a collection of short films) about three humanoid rabbits living with a fearful mystery is undoubtedly one of the most nightmarish sitcoms of all time.

Donnie Darko (2001)

Newmarket Films

This cult psychological thriller stars Jake Gyllenhaal as a troubled teen who makes a creepy imaginary friend in the form of Frank, a man in a rabbit costume who warns him the world will end in 28 days.

Hokum (2026)

Neon

This upcoming Irish folk horror chiller follows Adam Scott (Severance) as he checks into a hotel with a haunted honeymoon suite. The film features both a grotesque rabbit-like creature and a horrific use of a bunny Halloween costume. While you wait, you can watch director Damian McCarthy’s debut, Caveat, with its stuffed, drumming mechanical bunny, this Easter holiday.

Dust Bunny (2025)

Roadside Attractions

In Bryan Fuller’s (Hannibal) charming dark fantasy film, Mads Mikkelsen plays a hitman hired by a little girl to kill the monster under her bed: a giant, literal dust bunny. Sigourney Weaver and David Dastmalchian also star.

Us (2019)

Universal

With a super lead performance from Lupita Nyong’o, Jordan Peele’s follow-up to Get Out is a harrowing social horror film about a horde of evil doppelgängers—with a mysterious connection to caged rabbits—set on replacing their original counterparts.
