Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein is getting a 4K UHD home video release from The Criterion Collection, with a new 158-minute extended director’s cut, titled The Reborn Cut, adding nine minutes of footage.
Described by del Toro as his dream project, Frankenstein was a critical success and won the Academy Awards for Costume Design, Production Design, and Makeup and Hairstyling. The Mexican director’s adaptation of Mary Shelley’s 1818 novel was notable for its themes of forgiveness and for framing the dynamic between Victor Frankenstein (Oscar Isaac) and the creature (Jacob Elordi) more explicitly as a father-son relationship.
The release includes:
4K digital master of the theatrical version of the film, with Dolby Atmos soundtrack
