Debuting earlier this year at London Fashion Week, ANGUS TSUI’s AW26 collection, 404: Safety Not Found, brought Clive Barker’s Hellraiser to the runway.
Created in 2014 by its founder of the same name, ANGUS TSUI is a Hong Kong-based fashion brand specialising in futuristic, otherworldly silhouettes with a focus on environmental sustainability.
While their SS25 and SS26 “GIGER” collections took inspiration from the work of H.R. Giger, the Swiss artist who designed the Xenomorphs in the original Alien (1979), 404: Safety Not Found pulls from the blend of leather and exposed flesh that defines the Cenobites, the interdimensional sadomasochistic villains from the celebrated horror franchise Hellraiser.
“I’ve always been drawn to the art of horror, specifically the body horror genre,” Angus Tsui told Metal magazine. “For me, films like Alien and Hellraiser aren’t just scary movies; they are masterclasses in surrealist sculpture and biomechanical design. H.R. Giger and Clive Barker are artists first. They use the body as a canvas to explore the tension between pain and pleasure, flesh and technology.”
