Bridgerton and Wicked star Jonathan Bailey will play fiction’s most famous vampire in a new Audible adaptation of Dracula.
The audiobook and podcast service has unveiled several stars for its English-language and international adaptations of Bram Stoker’s classic 1897 gothic horror novel.
The supporting cast for the English-language version includes Ella Purnell (Yellowjackets) as Mina, Aimee Lou Wood (The White Lotus) as Lucy, Louis Partridge (Enola Holmes) as Jonathan, Lesley Manville (Phantom Thread) as Mrs Westenra, Johnny Flynn (Ripley) as Renfield, and Francis Lovehall (A Thousand Blows).
Moreover, The Bride! writer-director Maggie Gyllenhaal and Alien: Romulus and The Long Walk star David Jonsson both return to the horror genre, voicing Professor Van Helsing and Dr. Seward, respectively.
Bailey joins the likes of Bela Lugosi, Christopher Lee, and Gary Oldman in playing the iconic villain created by Bram Stoker.
The Audible Original is also being produced in French, German, Italian, Castilian Spanish, Latin American Spanish, and Brazilian Portuguese, with each version featuring all-star local casts.
Playing Dracula and Mina respectively in the international casts are Omar Sy and Deva Cassel (French); Matthias Schweighöfer and Jeanne Goursaud (German); Riccardo Scamarcio and Benedetta Porcaroli (Italian); Asier Etxeandia and Claudia Salas (Castilian Spanish); and José María de Tavira and Esmeralda Pimentel (Latin American Spanish).
Mary Lambert, director of the 1989 adaptation of Stephen King’s Pet Sematary, will make her audiobook directing debut on the production from an adaptation of Stoker’s novel by Robyn Ahern.
The English-language version releases October 1st.
