10 years after the ambiguous ending of Hannibal Season 3, creator and showrunner Bryan Fuller is addressing what a potential revival would mean for the relationship between Hannibal Lecter (Mads Mikkelsen) and Will Graham (Hugh Dancy).

Speaking with Phantasmag’s Heather O. Petrocelli, Fuller discussed the complex queerness of the show’s two leads and confirmed that their romance would become more explicit in a continuation of the story.

“There was something about these men being attracted to each other’s souls and minds,” he said. “The fact that we had not yet got to any sort of sexual act… that makes it even hotter for me. But I do think the story would go to a place where there would be physical intimacy between these two men. I hope that we get to tell that story. I think the rights are very confused right now after Martha De Laurentiis’s passing.”
