Jenna Ortega and Taylor Russell are set to produce and star in a remake of the 1992 psychological erotic thriller Single White Female. Sarah DeLappe, the screenwriter behind acclaimed A24 satirical horror comedy Bodies Bodies Bodies, will pen the script, with producers Stacey Sher (Heretic) and Marisa Paiva also boarding the film.
A queer horror cult classic and a hit upon its release in 1992, the original Single White Female follows roommates Allison (Bridget Fonda) and Hedra (Jennifer Jason Leigh). The pair develop an intimate bond, but when Allison considers reuniting with her ex-fiancé, Hedra’s affection turns into a dangerous obsession.
Ortega can next be seen in two science fiction films, Taika Waititi’s Klara and the Sun and JJ Abrams’ The Great Beyond. The Scream actress is currently filming Wednesday Season 3. Russell will next star in Hope, the thriller from acclaimed genre film director Na Hong-jin (The Wailing).
