From Final Destination 7 to Gladys: The 10 Most Exciting Horror Movies Teased at CinemaCon So Far

With two new Evil Dead films, an M. Night Shyamalan ghost story, and three new projects from Weapons director Zack Cregger on the way, a wealth of thrilling horror movie news is pouring out of CinemaCon.

While the likes of Universal and Paramount are yet to unveil their slate (with a highly anticipated look at Robert Eggers’ Werewulf on the cards), we’ve picked our 10 most anticipated genre films that have been teased at the Las Vegas-based trade show so far.

Evil Dead Burn - July 24, 2026

Warner Bros.

With the trailer teasing a vicious, mean-spirited film, the latest instalment in Sam Raimi’s ultra-gory franchise stars Souheila Yacoub (Climax) and Hunter Doohan (Wednesday). Warner Bros. have also set a date for the follow-up, Evil Dead Wrath, which will hit theatres April 7, 2028.

Resident Evil - September 18, 2026

Weapons and Barbarian writer-director Zach Cregger is rebooting the Resident Evil franchise as a taut 90-minute survival thriller nightmare. Weapons star Austin Abrams plays the lead, while a test screening attendee has described the film as Mad Max: Fury Road for the horror genre.

Clayface - October 23, 2026

DC Comics

James Gunn’s DCU switches up genres in this body horror origin story of a struggling actor (Tom Rhys Harries) who undergoes a monstrous scientific transformation after his face is disfigured. James Watkins (Eden Lake) directs from a script by Mike Flanagan (The Haunting of Hill House) and Hossein Amini (Drive).

Godzilla Minus Zero - November 6, 2026

Toho

In this sequel to the 2023 kaiju epic Godzilla Minus One, a critical and commercial hit which took home the Oscar for Best Visual Effects, the titular monster sets his sights on America. Stars Ryuunosuke Kamiki and Minami Hamabe return in what will be the first-ever Japanese production filmed for IMAX.

Remain - February 5, 2027

The Notebook meets The Sixth Sense in this upcoming romantic horror film from M. Night Shyamalan. In a ghost story developed with Notebook author Nicholas Sparks, Shyamalan’s latest follows the relationship between a grieving architect (Jake Gyllenhaal) and a mysterious young woman (Phoebe Dynevor).

The Revenge of La Llorona - April 9, 2027

Coming eight years after The Conjuring Universe-set chiller The Curse of La Llorona, the new film from No One Gets Out Alive director Santiago Menghini follows a new family as they wrestle with the child-killing spirit of Latin American folklore.

Final Destination 7 - May 12, 2028

The follow-up to the critical and commercial hit Final Destination 6, plot details remain under wraps for the latest instalment in the horror franchise. A sequel was inevitable after the previous entry grossed over $300 million worldwide. 

The Flood - August 11, 2028

Following Resident Evil, Zach Cregger’s next directorial effort will be a space station sci-fi thriller in the vein of Alien. Steven Spielberg’s Amblin Entertainment is producing, after the Jaws director praised Cregger’s Weapons as so satisfying that he doesn’t feel a need to make a new horror film.

Gladys - September 8, 2028

Warner Bros.

Following Amy Madigan’s Oscar win for playing Aunt Gladys, Zach Cregger will write and produce a prequel to Weapons centred on the enigmatic witch. Godzilla vs. Kong and Krampus screenwriter Zach Shields is penning the script with Cregger.

The Howling Reboot

In this new horror comedy series from Apple TV, a mayor (Matthew Rhys) is determined to turn Widow’s Bay, a quaint New England island community short on wi-fi, into a tourist hot spot. The only issue? The deeply superstitious residents keep warning him that their town is cursed.
