Washed in blood and vivid colours, the trailer for Artichoke, Amir Moini’s short horror film, promises a hyper-stylised throwback to the gialli of the 70s and 80s. Serving as executive producer and narrator is Anna Lou Castoldi, the granddaughter of giallo maestro Dario Argento (Suspiria, Deep Red, Tenebrae).

Artichoke follows Cynara (Alyson Gorske), a woman who discovers a phoropter that opens a portal to another dimension. Trapped in a violent relationship, Cynara must survive a terrifying cat-and-mouse chase as she faces an unhinged nemesis (Thomas Dekker).

“I’m super excited to be a part of Artichoke because I think it’s very profound and creative,”Castoldi told Phantasmag. “I’m honoured to be a narrator for something that’s written so beautifully. I love the genre.”
