Teasing a sexy, atmospheric, and unnerving psychological thriller, the Verity trailer promises a starry, unhinged love triangle between Anne Hathaway (The Odyssey), Dakota Johnson (Materialists), and Josh Hartnett (Trap) against the backdrop of a snowy winter cabin.
Based on Colleen Hoover’s (The End of Us) worldwide best-seller of the same name, Verity follows (Dakota Johnson), a struggling writer hired to finish a book series after its famous author (Anne Hathaway), Verity Crawford, is left incapacitated. But when Lowen moves into Verity’s home, she falls for her husband and uncovers a secret manuscript.
In addition to her roles in blockbusters The Odyssey and The Devil Wears Prada 2, Verity will mark Anne Hathaway’s third horror-tinged film of the year, following Gothic drama Mother Mary and sci-fi survival thriller The End of Oak Street.
The film sees Hathaway re-team with her The Idea of You director Michael Showalter, who directs from a script by Cape Fear showrunner Nick Antosca.
Meanwhile, Dakota Johnson returns to the genre following her starring role in Luca Guadagnino’s 2018 remake of Suspiria, and Josh Hartnett will be front-and-centre in horror projects both in cinemas and on TV screens this October, with his Netflix sea monster series Below releasing less than a week after Verity.
Verity is playing from October 2nd in US theatres via Amazon MGM Studios and in UK theatres via Sony Pictures Releasing.
