A new horror film from the studio behind Late Night with the Devil and The Babadook is coming to theatres in time for Halloween.
A darkly funny thriller with a deeply twisted premise, Breeder follows an eccentric poodle breeder who lures a broke college student to her remote ranch with a promise of research funding, but he soon learns there’s a catch.
In a performance drawing comparisons to Kathy Bates in Misery, Dot-Marie Jones (American Horror Story, The Shards) plays the deranged poodle breeder swapping dogs for humans, with Daniel Doheny (Brand New Cherry Flavor) as the poor scientist she’s chosen as her “stud”. Maddie Phillips (Gen V) also stars.
With Insidious producer Steven Schneider backing the project, Breeder hails from writer-director Alex Goyette, a former YouTube content creator who follows directors like Curry Barker (Obsession), Kane Parsons (Backrooms), and Danny and Michael Philippou in making the leap from the platform to big-screen horror filmmaking.
Breeder hits US theatres October 28th.
