Ethel Cain may be teaming up with Robert Eggers.
In an Oscar predictions piece published this week by The Hollywood Reporter, an untitled original song by Cain for Werwulf was listed. The Preacher’s Daughter singer is known for her ambient pop-rock style and Southern Gothic aesthetic.
Cain is no stranger to the horror genre, with the concept album Preacher’s Daughter, her debut, exploring a story of murder and cannibalism.
Following a medieval English village ravaged by werewolf attacks, Werwulf marks the fifth feature from historical horror auteur Robert Eggers and sees him reunite with his Nosferatu stars Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Lily-Rose Depp, and Willem Dafoe.
Given Eggers’ interest in historical accuracy, Cain’s song would most likely play during the closing credits, a first for The Witch director.
