Dreaming Eli
“Dreamers in Exile”, the SS27 collection from London-based womenswear brand Dreaming Eli, covers its models in ripped lace and modernised corsetry, evoking a Romantic, Gothic fantasy.
The brand’s founder, Italian designer Elisa Trombatore, has seen her work worn by Kylie Jenner, Tate McRae, and Zara Larsson. Her AW25 collection similarly sits at the intersection of fashion and horror, with an effect of bloodied lace and a look recalling Sissy Spacek’s turn as Carrie in the 1976 classic film of the same name.
Tromabatore’s latest collection was inspired by memories of her childhood in Sicily. Presented at St Bartholomew’s Hospital in East London, the looks feature distressed silks, lace, and chiffon that disrupt the more proper, composed image of the Gothic heroine.
Look 16 presents “a negative image of the dutiful bride” with a black, tattered gown that exudes “Sicilian widow energy with sensual edge”, while the ethereal look 25 presents a figure that is “romantic but not naive”.
