Crave, the Canadian streaming service behind Heated Rivalry, has unveiled the teaser for Yaga.

The seductive horror-tinged mystery reimagines the myth of Baba Yaga, a witch from Slavic folklore. The series stars Carrie-Anne Moss (The Matrix), Noah Reid (Schitt’s Creek), Clark Backo (The Changeling), and Hudson Williams (Heated Rivalry).

Yaga follows a PI (Reid) who travels to a small coastal town to investigate the disappearance of Henry Park (Williams), the young heir to a powerful fishery. Clashing with a local detective (Backo) and a professor (Moss) with a taste for younger men, he discovers ancient magic may be at play.

With sex, witchcraft, and an atmospheric coastal small-town setting, the teaser promises a dark mystery with heavy horror and erotic thriller elements.

The series also stars Sheila McCarthy (Miniature Wife), Megan Follows (Reign), Ezra Franky (Untamed), Patrick Gilmore (Travelers),  Hiro Kanagawa (In Time), Emilija Baranac (To All The Boys I’ve Loved Before), Georgia Acken (Under the Bridge), Anisa Harris (Yellowjackets), Sam Krochmal (The Vince Staples Show), and scream queen Katharine Isabelle, known for her roles in Ginger Snaps, American Mary, Hannibal, Freddy vs. Jason, and It’s a Wonderful Knife.

The series marks Williams’ first part since his breakout role in the international queer romance sensation Heated Rivalry. His co-star Connor Storrie has likewise explored the horror genre, posting horror shorts to his YouTube channel and starring in a slasher-themed advertisement for Verizon from 28 Years Later: The Bone Temple director Nia DaCosta.

The eight-episode series premieres this October on AMC+ in the US and on Sky in the UK.
