Curry Barker’s next film has found a release date.

Focus Features and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster announced today that Anything But Ghosts, Barker’s highly anticipated follow-up to indie horror phenomenon Obsession, will be released nationwide on May 7th 2027.

Written and directed by Barker and co-written by his longtime creative collaborator Cooper Tomlinson, Anything But Ghosts stars Tomlinson and Barker as wannabe “ghosthunters” who find themselves in over their heads when they encounter a real haunting.

With its May 7th release date, the film will hit theatres just under one year after the release of Obsession. Following a buzzy festival run beginning at TIFF’s Midnight Madness section in September 2025, the film became a global sensation upon its release on May 15th 2026, going on to gross over $500 million worldwide against a budget of only $750,000.

Alongside Barker and Tomlinson, who got their start as comedy duo That’s a Bad Idea, Anything But Ghosts also stars Bryce Dallas Howard (Jurassic World), Aaron Paul (Breaking Bad), Violet McGraw (M3gan), and Chris Reinacher (Pretzel). The horror comedy was filmed in spring of this year ahead of the release of Obsession, an early sign of Focus Features and Blumhouse’s belief in the filmmaker after they produced the latter film.

With his career skyrocketing, Barker has multiple horror projects lined up, including a secret project with Universal and Blumhouse-Atomic Monster secured through a rich eight-figure deal and A24’s reboot of The Texas Chain Saw Massacre.
