Charli xcx has boarded Martin Scorsese’s upcoming star-studded horror film.

The pop superstar and actress joins Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence in What Happens at Night, Scorsese’s upcoming Gothic psychological horror film for Apple Original Films, which sees the celebrated director return to the genre after 2010’s Shutter Island. According to Variety, who broke the news, she will make a cameo in the film.

Adapted from Peter Cameron’s 2020 novel of the same name,  What Happens at Night follows a married couple (Leonardo DiCaprio and Jennifer Lawrence) who travel to a snowy European town to adopt a baby. When they check into an eerily deserted Grand Hotel, they meet a strange cast of characters as their relationship is put to the test. Mads Mikkelsen, Patricia Clarkson, and Jared Harris also star.

The project marks another horror movie for Charli xcx, who has branched out into acting. The Brat singer shot her first film role in 2023 with the Faces of Death reboot — which was finally released this year after a delay — while she will lead an upcoming possession horror film from Audition director Takashi Miike opposite Milly Alcock and Norman Reedus.

Scorsese previously appeared alongside John Cale (The Velvet Underground) and fashion deisgner Marc Jacobs on the cover of Charli’s latest album, Music, Fashion, Film, which concludes with a collaboration with horror auteur David Cronenberg on the track “No One Lasts Forever”.
